1.1.6   Dividing  Rational Numbers   ("Adaptive" Learning)

This lesson on Division uses numbers of mixed signs (positive and negative).   Divide the 1st number   by the 2nd  to get the answer.

  Division Table
Ref #     Fact Ref #     Fact
1.   1 /  1 =  1 5.   0 /  0 =   0
2.   1 /  0 = inf 6.  -1 / -27 = 0.037
3.   1 / -1 = -1 7.  -1 /  0 = inf
4.   0 / -1 =  0 8.  -5 /  1 = -5
9  5 / -7 = -0.71

 Mixed Sign Division:
 10,000 /  2  =  200 ( 0.02 / 10,000).

 10,000 / -3  = -300.

-10,000 /  4  = -400.
-10,000 /  5  =  500.

  /   represents Division.
  pos / pos    =  pos.
  neg / neg    =  pos.

  mixed signs =  neg.

Suggest that you practice below until you understand Division is "Reverse  Multiplication".

Round off answers to 2 decimal places (topic taught in other lessons / Lesson in "Rounding Off" --
from "The Math Page" -- http://www.themathpage.com/ARITH/divide-whole-numbers-2.htm
)

Note (1) -- to Teachers.  It would be helpful if you can explain how dividing both sides by Operand #2,
and rewriting the equation in the form of  Operand #1 * Operand #2 = Result  is a preview of Algebra
Equations, and will expedite that lesson.

Note (2) -- to Students  from Administrators,  Teachers,  Programmers and Network Specialists --
Keep pressing "See Answer" until you get simple problems
you can understand -- build up points with them,
then gradually do harder  -- and more difficult ones --  until you have "conquered" the concept,  ready to
"move on",  with a good "sense of numbers"!!!!
